PROJECT 2 - A Digital Triptych

Project two was to make a triptych inspired from our own choice of the five Frank Sinatra songs provided. I chose to conceptualize "The way you look tonight" as it is one of my most favorite songs.

Lyrics:

Some day, when I'm awfully low
When the world is cold
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight
Yes, you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft
There is nothing for me but to love you
And the way you look tonight

With each word your tenderness grows
Tearin' my fear apart
And that laugh, wrinkles your nose
Touches my foolish heart
Lovely, never, never change
Keep that breathless charm
Won't you please arrange it?
'Cause I love you
A-just the way you look tonight
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose
It touches my foolish heart
Lovely, don't you ever change
Keep that breathless charm
Won't you please arrange it?
'Cause I love you
A-just the way you look tonight
Mm, mm, mm, mm,
Just the way you look tonight

Whenever I've listened to it,  for some reason I envision an art gallery so I tried to create a concept based off that. For this project i took upon using humans as a blank canvas. I wanted to show how just the sight of someone can make the onlooker reconsider their views. It's also inspired from a  quote by  Rupi Kaur which reads,  "I am a museum full of art, but you still had your eyes shut," but a much twisted perspective of this. The girl is somehow getting possessed by the art itself  but she invites this possession as she is desperate to catch the eye of her lover. She feels blank in the beginning and so she is like a blank canvas, inviting any thing to make her whole again.

This is also inspired by the movie "Velvet Buzzsaw" where cursed art of a dead painter comes alive and haunts the frauds that profited off his art, killing each one in very graphic and surreal scenes. I caught a lot of inspiration from this scene where the art begins to crawl up this person,

Reference for first piece

For the first frame, I want to illustrate the girl sensing something weird about the painting from the corner of her eye and she is confused so she looks back at the painting. ( animation idea )

Applying brush and making paintings

For one of the paintings, I referred to "The Scream"by Edvard Munch for inspiration. The one next to is is purely my own creation that I just thought of on the spot.

For the second frame, I wanted to show the paint slowly making its way up the feet of the girl.
